HISTORY OF SPORTS FIGHT

There are several theories about the origin of wrestling as part of human culture. In some, wrestling is seen as an element of a religious cult (see below the “bear fight” among the ancient Slavs). In ancient Greece and Rome, the struggle was considered primarily a method of general physical education. The peoples of the Far East have adopted a philosophical-idealistic interpretation of the struggle: the struggle of yin and yang, light and darkness, good and evil, etc.

But in any case, the art of struggle is as old as humanity itself. It is curious that different — often isolated from each other — peoples applied different rules of the struggle, but its essence boiled down to one thing: knock down the enemy, lay him on the shoulder blades, force him to acknowledge defeated. Perhaps this is due to the fact that initially a person had to fight with animals, which had to be deprived of mobility, pressed to the ground – then a struggle appeared as a competition between people. We can also assume that the struggle as art arose at the moment when a person understood: physical strength, endurance, various technical methods and methods of warfare help him save his life and provide himself with food. The accumulated “wrestling” experience was passed down from generation to generation, and over time, the struggle began to be perceived as a means of general physical development of a person and the development of certain applied skills.
